WE WERE TROOPERS

All of us that served with the 11th Armored Cavalry, either in 'A' troop with the first Squadron, 'F' troop in the second, a tanker in the third or anyone of the Howitzer batterys or attached units; helicopter pilots to cooks, we were all troopers. AND NEVER LOST A BATTLE.

One little trooper, to whom I wish to dedicate this web site, did loose her battle with Cystic Fibrosis, after fighting it for 14 years. Our Beloved niece, cousin, daughter & granddaughter.

A heart of gold stopped beating,

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best.

God knew you had to leave us,

But you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

COAT OF ARMS

The Regiment was organized in 1901 and saw service in the Philippines, indicated by crossed bolos with red blades and blue hilts. A green cactus plant symbolizes the Regiment's service on the Mexican border and in General Pershing's. Punitive Expedition in 1916. The Regiment's symbol, a black horse, is represented by a horse's head above the crest. The colors of the Regiment, black and gold, are prominant throughout the coat of arms. The unit motto, ALLONS, underscores the design. It was adopted by the Secretary of War on 12 December 1934.

The Regiment's motto was adopted in 1920 after being adjudged the winning entry in a contest held

among the officers and men of the Regiment. The motto was submitted by Captain John N. Merrill, then Commanding Officer of H Troop.
